I never finished or published the August 2009 Strawberry Shortcake drawing. I remember that I was home sick, and I shared progress pictures via Twitter (on TwitPic), but I abandoned the project because something was wrong and I couldn’t work out how to fix it. Now I see it - it’s her face. What is wrong with her faaaace? Now I’m home sick again with super fun happy virus, so I tried again. I guess that makes this a Draw This Again meme. Now I’m home sick again with super fun happy virus, so I tried again. I guess that makes this a Draw This Again meme.

The 2009 picture was “inked” in Adobe Illustrator as I was trying to learn more Illustrator things at the time.

So, I did the “Draw this again” meme. This is the oldest picture I could find in my deviantART gallery. Why did it have to be Lulu? WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE LULU WITH ALL THE BELTS AND THE LACE AND ARGH! Picture drawn specifically to compare with the old one, which is why the pose and such are so similar. I think I have improved at: anatomy and proportion facial features selecting appropriate colours, i.e. the different greys and purples using detail to better effect (and not making irrelevant things detailed) better differentiation between light and shadow But I am still either bad at or do a half-arsed job of other things.   • anatomy and proportion
  • facial features
  • selecting appropriate colours, i.e. the different greys and purples
  • using detail to better effect (and not making irrelevant things detailed)
  • better differentiation between light and shadow

But I am still either bad at or do a half-arsed job of other things. I will get there, eventually.
