Linework for Kanaya and Rose drawing. Still very slow going on this drawing as my fiancé is still in the hospital.
On the topic of the hospital, I think we’re through the worst of Derek’s mystery illness. We still don’t know what is wrong (and we’ve been told we may never know), but he’s lucid more frequently, seems adequately hydrated, is sleeping, and no longer has a temperature or pain from the lumbar puncture. He even has his laptop and an internet connection again and has been playing Team Fortress 2.
We’re still not sure how much longer he’ll be in hospital. They are awaiting results from an EEG, but as I understand the data’s been sent to Queensland for analysis and it hasn’t come back yet. Unfortunately, I think things are a bit difficult at this time of year.
But I’ve been reassured that we’re through the worst of it, that it’s not life-threatening, and that there shouldn’t be any permanent brain injury, so we’re all feeling a lot better now.
On another note, it’s been relaxing slowly working on this drawing during the sleepless nights. :)
EDIT: You can download the full size version from deviantART if you would like to colour this. If you do, I’d love to see it!
UPDATE: My fully coloured version of this is here.

My Kanaya Maryam cross-stitch iPhone case is complete!
Special case for cross-stitch is available from connect design. Design is my own, created at 33x69 in Photoshop, then imported into Stitches for Mac OS X to choose colours. Time taken to stitch was about a week.
I’ll be happy to make the pattern available as soon as I’m able to afford a licensed copy of software to do so, but money is tight at the moment.

Kanaya cross-stitch iPhone case progress.
I’ve run out of all the colours I could find at Spotlight earlier this week. Aside from some black stitches (OH GOODIE GUM DROPS, BLACK STITCHES ON BLACK CANVAS) I need to get to the store before I can progress any further.
When this is done I’ll try to take some nice (not Instagram on the kitchen table) photos. :) I also need to work out a way to make the pattern available (cannot export from trial version of Stitches for Mac OS X and not sure I am in a position to buy the software right now.)
Case: Neostitch DIY iPhone Case from Connect DesignDesign: My own attempt at pixel art of Kanaya for the phone case.

I was home sick yesterday, so I made some progress on my Kanaya iPhone case.
Although today I wish I’d cross-stitched less enthusiastically: my fingers are sore!

How did you do that O.O and where did you get the case to do it on

Hi there! The case is a “Neo Stitch” case, which you can get here: http://connectdesign.co.kr/front/php/product.php?product_no=170
(Oh my, it looks like they’ve added some new products since I last visited the site! This warrants further investigation!)
The cases come with three colours of embroidery floss, some basic patterns, and a needle, but you can do whatever you like as long as it fits within the 33x69 pattern (for instance, I previously stitched Nyan Cat, which my fiancé is using on his phone).
As for how I’ve gone about making a Kanaya pattern, first I designed some pixel art in Photoshop at 33x69. Then I imported that pixel art into a cross-stitch program. There are a lot out there for Windows and Mac, but I used Stitches for Mac OS X.
The cross-stitch program tries to work out the best embroidery floss colours to match whatever artwork or photograph you put into it. It does a pretty good job, but I found I changed some colours when I got to the shop and was standing in front of all the actual embroidery thread!
Then it’s simply a matter of cross-stitching! It takes a while, and I’m a long way from done still (I think the greys will be fiddly), but I made a LOT of progress yesterday when I was home sick. :)
I hope that helps answer your questions! <3

I’ve been trying to design something for my cross-stitch iPhone case for a while. This is one of the ideas I’m considering.
Not that I’m sure how to pick floss colours and stuff! o.o I need to get a cross stitch app and see what works perhaps? How would I go about selecting embroidery floss colours?!
