I am not good animate gif.
Very simple vector-colouring of the earlier Grimdark Rose drawing. I am still learning this stuff.
EDIT: Illustrator EPS downloadable from my deviantART page. Feel free to use it under the Creative Commons license.
Quick doodling between commission work: scanned version of the Grimdark Rose brush pen drawing. Inked with Kuretake Real Brush brush pen, and greys are copic marker.
More brush pen shenanigans. I’ll scan this later, but bed time now.
Kanaya and Rose.
Completed 2h 11m into 2013, but I think I’ll count this as a 2012 drawing.
If you’d like to try colouring the linework, it’s available here.
Possibly the last update of 2012 on this drawing. I’ll see how I go…
In other news, my fiancé is home from hospital! And in 50 minutes time, it will be 2013.
UPDATE: Completed version here!
Another progress update on Rose and Kanaya. I don’t think I’m going to get this finished this year now.
Also, another update on my fiancé: we’re hoping he’ll be discharged from hospital today. He’s spoken to a doctor, and he’ll be speaking to some more, but we’re hopeful he’ll be home in time for some quiet New Year’s Eve celebrations with friends.
UPDATE: Completed version here!
Another progress picture of the Rose and Kanaya drawing. No real update on my fiancé, pretty much same as yesterday: waiting on tests and doctors.
I drew these two around this time last year, too. Interesting to see the difference between now and then.
UPDATE: Completed version here!
Linework for Kanaya and Rose drawing. Still very slow going on this drawing as my fiancé is still in the hospital.
On the topic of the hospital, I think we’re through the worst of Derek’s mystery illness. We still don’t know what is wrong (and we’ve been told we may never know), but he’s lucid more frequently, seems adequately hydrated, is sleeping, and no longer has a temperature or pain from the lumbar puncture. He even has his laptop and an internet connection again and has been playing Team Fortress 2.
We’re still not sure how much longer he’ll be in hospital. They are awaiting results from an EEG, but as I understand the data’s been sent to Queensland for analysis and it hasn’t come back yet. Unfortunately, I think things are a bit difficult at this time of year.
But I’ve been reassured that we’re through the worst of it, that it’s not life-threatening, and that there shouldn’t be any permanent brain injury, so we’re all feeling a lot better now.
On another note, it’s been relaxing slowly working on this drawing during the sleepless nights. :)
EDIT: You can download the full size version from deviantART if you would like to colour this. If you do, I’d love to see it!
Update on Rose and Kanaya Drawing. Not a lot more done really, I’ve been at the hospital a lot.
Speaking of which, my fiancé (Derek / @posty) is feeling much better! However, we still don’t have a diagnosis and we’re still not sure what happened. They had said it was encephalitis for a while, and now they say it’s not. All they said is that it’s some kind of frontal lobe syndrome, and he’ll be seeing more doctors tomorrow. Which reminds me, it’s past time I went to bed so I can visit him tomorrow.
Update on Rose and Kanaya drawing.
Also an update on the hospital saga: I’ve managed to pick up gastro (possibly during the 9 hours I waited in the emergency room with my fiancé) so I’m not permitted to see him now. I’ve been sent home, so I’ve continued the drawing to keep myself from worrying.
He just phoned me and seems less confused than this morning, which is good. It seems to fluctuate a bit. Still no diagnosis. He doesn’t like the MRI, describing it as “some nightmarish cross between Hellraiser and A Clockwork Orange.” Still awaiting results/diagnosis/treatment.
Kanaya and Rose. Very rough.
I may never finish this drawing, I don’t know. I started it a couple of nights ago, but my fiancé has been taken seriously ill (no diagnosis yet, but they are treating for encephalitis) and is in hospital. We’re still awaiting the results of tests, and they still have MRIs and EEGs to run. In a minute I’ll hop on a bus to the Royal Adelaide Hospital and see him.
He’s a bit out of sorts, and doesn’t remember things clearly, mixes things up, etc. He doesn’t know why he’s in the hospital a lot of the time, and he’s even forgotten things like his job a couple of times. Sometimes he’s better and sometimes he’s worse (he was lucid yesterday but he’s acutely confused again overnight).
He was asked what his last memory is, and he says he remembers sitting in the study on his laptop, drawing this picture. :/ I remember him watching me sketching it…
